School Curriculum
Our aims in every subject are to:
• Nurture successful learners who enjoy learning, make progress and achieve
• Develop responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society
• Encourage confident individuals who are able to lead safe and healthy lives
• Ensure that the subject is brought to life through the skills of our staff and through educational visits
• Ensure that our specialist subjects – Mathematics, Design Technology and Science – achieve excellence.
We are working hard to establish a curriculum which meets the needs of individual students working at their own pace.
At Key Stage 3 we offer:
• Extension work for the most able
• ‘Access Groups’ and ‘English Plus’ support.
At Key Stage 4 we offer:
• A range of vocational courses including Construction, Catering, Business Retail, Hairdressing and Horticulture
• Early entry in GCSE Maths, Statistics, English, Design Technology, RE and Citizenship
• New Diplomas (introduced from September 2009)
At Key Stage 5 we offer:
• 23 A Levels
• COPE (certificate of Personal Effectiveness) which supports our wide range of A Level courses.
• Expansion of our Level 2 programme and Level 3 BTEC provision
• Further Maths, STEPS and appropriate support for university applicants
