Results and Achievements

2024 A-Level and Level 3 BTEC Results

We are delighted to announce that our students have once again achieved exceptional A-Level results, reflecting their hard work, dedication, and academic excellence. The 2024 cohort has continued the school’s tradition of high achievement, with many students securing places at top universities and apprenticeship programmes across the country.

Mr Dean Mills, Director of Sixth Form, stated:

We couldn’t be prouder of our Year 13 cohort and are delighted that the effort and dedication that our students have shown is reflected in their outcomes. It’s important to acknowledge and remember that not only are we celebrating students with excellent attainment, but also those students have made outstanding progress during KS5.

Each and every student has faced their own challenges over the past two years, all have worked extremely hard for their personal achievements but also for the betterment of our Sixth Form environment and wider school community.

My sincere thanks and gratitude to all students and to the staff who have supported them with such commitment and dedication over the last two years. I am convinced all our 2024 leavers are destined for success in the many and varied pathways they have chosen, and we look forward to hearing about their further achievements through our Alumni programme.

Students’ results have led to 80% of university applicants being accepted into firm or insurance choices, with more than 1 in 4 grades across all qualifications A/A* or equivalent. Of all students, 85% have already confirmed their post-18 pathway, including one student heading to the University of Oxford. Students have also secured places on degree apprenticeships including with the Police, the NHS and Mercedes, with some choosing to work or travel in a gap year before taking up their places.

Our students are leaving us well-prepared for the next stages of their lives, whether that be in higher education, apprenticeships, or the workforce. I would like to thank our dedicated teachers, supportive parents/carers, and the wider school community for their unwavering support throughout this academic year. As these students embark on the next chapter of their lives, we are confident that they will continue to make us proud and achieve great things.

2024 GCSE & Level 2 BTEC Results

Guilsborough Academy’s Year 11 students excelled in their GCSE results released today, Thursday 22nd August. The results highlight the hard work, resilience, and dedication of both students and staff. This is the first year that GCSE grades are expected to be similar to 2019 across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Most students receiving results today were in Year 7 when the first Covid lockdown restrictions were announced, meaning they have spent every year of their secondary education either in the midst, or the wake, of the pandemic.

Guilsborough Academy’s 2024 results have shown a significant increase in the higher grades awarded at 7 and above across a broad range of subjects. In addition, their results continue to see high levels of attainment at grade 4 and above in English and Maths which, as the benchmark for a pass at GCSE, has enabled their students to progress to the next step in their educational journey. Nationally, grades awarded at 4 and above have dropped slightly this year, so to continue with high attainment is a fantastic achievement.

Mr Liam Cope, current Head of Year 11 who moves to Head of Year 7 next year, said:

We are delighted with another set of fantastic results which really reflect the hard work and commitment of students to their studies. As always, it was heartening to see many happy students opening their results envelopes. The staff have worked tirelessly to deliver a quality education for our students to enable them to progress onto their chosen pathways. We congratulate all students and wish them every success in the next stage of their education

Mr Simon Frazer, Principal stated:

We are incredibly proud of all our students. This year’s results reflect their hard work, perseverance, and the unwavering support from our staff and parent/carers for these students and the school has been phenomenal. In the face of ongoing educational challenges, this cohort have shown remarkable dedication. These results are a testament to their efforts and exemplify how our students respond to our mission ‘Learning Without Limits’.

We wish all our Year 11 students’ further success as they enter the next stage of their learning journeys. We are very much looking forward to welcoming many of them back to continue their studies within our successful Sixth Form.

It has been a challenging year for this cohort with the knowledge that their results were likely to be lower than previous cohorts.  However, they have shown real determination and ambition. 4 students achieved straight A*s in their chosen A Levels, while a further 8 students achieved all A*s and As. Our Sixth Form is increasingly popular, and we are looking forward to continuing our tradition of delivering high attainment alongside opportunities to explore the Arts and other extra-curricular activities. I would like to congratulate all students and thank the amazing teaching and support staff who have worked with many of these students for the past 7 years.

2023 GCSE & Level 2 BTEC Results

At a time when the national picture of GCSE results returned to pre-pandemic grading arrangements and were down across the country, our students were celebrating great improvements.

The upwards trajectory in attainment across Guilsborough students is promising, when nationally we’d been pre-warned of a much different picture.
