Careers Day

The Big Careers Day at Guilsborough Academy was a huge success! Held during National Careers Week, the event combined our annual Careers Fair with a full day of life skills sessions, guest lectures, and careers-focused workshops — creating an action-packed day designed to support students on their career journeys.
Over 55 visitors from a wide range of industries joined us to engage with students and share valuable insights. The Careers Fair gave students the opportunity to meet employers, explore career paths, and collect information about different industries and further education options. Alongside the fair, students in Years 10 to 13 attended talks and workshops led by industry professionals, covering topics such as career pathways, job skills, and personal experiences. Guest lecturers, including Guilsborough alumni, provided valuable advice and inspiration, helping students better understand the variety of opportunities available to them.
A huge thank you to our Director of Careers, Miss Hunt, who worked tirelessly to pull together the event and Mrs Vicki Brennan, our Careers Advisor, from Leicestershire Education Business Company for helping design the activities and coordinating the day alongside Miss Hunt. We are also incredibly grateful to all the staff who delivered Unifrog introduction sessions, facilitated skills workshops, supervised the fair, and supported the event behind the scenes.
The positive feedback from students and guests has been overwhelming, with many visitors commenting on how polite, engaged, and enthusiastic our students were throughout the day. Events like this are a crucial part of helping students make informed decisions about their futures, and we are proud to have provided such a valuable experience.
Last but certainly not least, thank you again to all the individuals and businesses in attendance, without whom the day wouldn't have been possible - it truly was an unforgettable day for our students!
