Our Student Elected to West Northants Youth Council & Parliament

We are incredibly proud to announce that Bella Godley, one of our own students at Guilsborough Academy, has been elected to the newly formed West Northamptonshire Youth Council - and will also serve as a Member of Youth Parliament.

This marks a significant milestone, as it is the first time in nearly two decades (since 2006) that the area has had a formally elected Youth Council. The council has been established through a partnership between West Northamptonshire Council and Clubs for Young People Northamptonshire.

What this means for our community

  • Local impact: Bella, alongside 19 other youth councillors, will meet regularly to discuss and campaign on issues that matter to young people. Their role includes shaping local decisions, influencing services, and working alongside councillors, MPs, and other organisations.
  • National representation: Two elected Members of Youth Parliament (MYPs) will now represent West Northants at a national level, taking part in debates in Westminster and engaging directly with MPs.
  • Democratic engagement: Thousands of young people across schools and youth clubs took part in the election process, casting their votes in official polling stations. It has been a powerful moment for youth democracy in our region.
Congratulations, Bella!

We are delighted to see Bella take on this important role. Her achievement highlights the strength of student voice at Guilsborough and shows how young people can have a meaningful impact on the future of their communities. We look forward to seeing all she will accomplish in this role.
