Our Year 10 students gave it their all during their Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) practice expedition—supporting each other, overcoming challenges, and finishing with a real sense of achievement (and a well-earned rest!).

Across the expedition, they demonstrated resilience, teamwork, and determination as they navigated varied terrain, managed their kit, and worked together to stay on route and keep morale high. There were moments of tired legs and testing weather, but also plenty of encouragement, problem-solving, and laughter along the way.

It was fantastic to see students stepping up into leadership roles within their groups, making decisions collaboratively, and learning how to adapt when things didn’t go exactly to plan. These are exactly the kinds of skills the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is designed to develop—independence, communication, and confidence in the outdoors.

By the end of the practice expedition, every group had grown noticeably in confidence and capability. They returned with not only a stronger understanding of expedition planning and navigation, but also a real sense of pride in what they had achieved together.

A huge well done to all involved for their effort, perseverance, and positive attitude throughout. This experience has set them up brilliantly for their assessed expedition ahead.

We are incredibly proud of their progress - onwards to the next adventure!
