Bronze DofE - Southam to Banbury

Over the weekend of 10th - 11th May, our Bronze Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) participants took on their qualifying expedition - and absolutely smashed it. Setting off from Burton Dassett Hills Country Park, teams of students navigated their way through the Southam to Banbury area, hiking, camping, and cooking entirely independently over the course of two days.

Carrying all their kit, including tents, food, and cooking equipment, the students worked brilliantly in their teams to follow planned routes, problem-solve on the go, and support each other through the highs and lows of expedition life. The overnight camp at Horley Scout Campsite was a well-earned rest before setting out again on Sunday morning.

The use of minimal phones, GPS trackers, and regular staff checkpoints ensured the experience was safe yet authentic - giving students a real sense of achievement. Their positive attitudes, resilience, and teamwork were outstanding throughout.

A huge thank you to all the staff who supported the expedition, both in preparation and out in the field. And most importantly, a massive well done to all our participants - not just for completing the challenge, but for doing so with such maturity, positivity, and exemplary behaviour. You did yourselves proud!
