Staff Wellbeing at Guilsborough Academy
Our Commitment
At Guilsborough Academy, we believe that the wellbeing of our staff is essential to creating a positive, thriving learning environment for our students.
We are proud to have signed the DfE Education Staff Wellbeing Charter, a sector-wide commitment to protect and promote the mental health and wellbeing of everyone working in education.

What the Charter Means
By signing the Charter, we pledge to:
- Prioritise staff mental health and wellbeing.
- Give staff a voice in decision-making.
- Reduce unnecessary workload.
- Champion flexible working and diversity.
- Support career development and leadership wellbeing.
Our Wellbeing Initiatives
We go beyond words with practical actions to support our team:
- Christmas and End of Academic Year events for staff
- Access to mental health resources and counselling via our 24/7 assistance line via Health Assured
- Free access to our well-equipped Fitness Suite
- Walking groups during lunchtimes
- Quiet spaces for relaxation and reflection.
- Regular events to celebrate staff
How We Measure Progress
We regularly review:
- Staff surveys and feedback.
- Absence and retention data.
- Wellbeing committee updates.
Our goal is continuous improvement, and we’ll share progress updates here.
Our Wellbeing Committee
At Guilsborough Academy we have a dedicated Wellbeing Committee responsible for staff and student wellbeing events. Furthermore a significant number of staff are trained Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA®). These staff are specifically trained to spot the signs of mental health issues in a young person, offer first aid and guide them towards the support they need.
Staff voice matters! Join our Wellbeing Committee, suggest new ideas, or take part in upcoming wellbeing events.
